Welcome to the 2021 #8weeksofsummer blog challenge! Wow, that was some school year. What did we just do? Let’s reflect.
It has been a long time since March 2020 and hopefully, you have had a chance to reflect with peers, family, or friends. But if not, this blog challenge is your shot. Sharing our reflections can be part of our debriefing process. Let’s share the experiences that many of us struggled with and triumphed over. Let’s consider what to retain from this year and what to let go together!
Share the idea of blogging with your colleagues as a way to process the full year of multiple formats. Take the ideas of the friends in this challenge and hopefully build a future teaching repertoire prepared for multiple formats!
The Prompt:
Describe relationships with those you taught this year.
The Rules:
Have a Blog: You may blog on a traditional blog, podcast, or use Facebook; any platform with an independent URL for each post.
Write & Include:(1) This at the start of your post: “This post is week 1 of 8 in the #8WeeksofSummer Blog Challenge for educators.” and please link that sentence to https://www.hotlunchtray.com/week-1-8weeksofsummer-blog-challenge-2021.
And (2) please use the hashtag #8weeksofsummer in social media shares of the post.
Comment on my Prompt: Post a link to your blog in the comments of each of HLT’s 8 blog prompts in a timely fashion (We are on vacation, and you may not even know which day it is, so let’s say within 3 weeks of posts 1-7).
This 2021 #8weeksofsummer blog challenge runs June 7 – July 31, 2020, and is for any educator. The challenge prompts educators with the opportunity of reflection. Each prompt asks them to blog about their reaction, thoughts, experiences with some facet of their professional practice.

I refer to this school year as “The Strangest Year Ever”. So this blog post is “Relationships from the Strangest Year Ever”. https://ticklingtech.com/2021/06/13/relationships-from-the-strangest-year-ever/

Thanks for coming back, Robbie. I do hope this past year is as strange as it ever gets. BUt I also like how it shows us those simple things we took for granted too. Thank you for this post!

Hi Sarah, thank you for joining the blogging challenge! You certainly had an extra challenge being the media specialist and new and not having met many of your colleagues in-person yet. Do did follow your prescribed treatment though – time and intentionality. I am hoping for a different upcoming year for you.

Sarah, what a great post. That would be soooo difficult to begin a new year as librarian during Covid, but you chose an excellent focus–“Relationships require time and intentionality” I can certainly believe that going to the grade level meetings and PLCs as a fly on the wall and adding value when you had something to share was so valuable! It sounds like you had some great ways to build relationships with students, as well.
By the way, I would have left a comment on your blog, but it seems the comment feature is not enabled.

Susan, you really are so close to the end of this school year! I will especially value your reflections as they are very fresh and should really resonate with the rest of us who may have had a few days/weeks head start on summer. Thank you for joining us!
