Educators have been on a learning curve for more than one year by the time this last school year ended. We do love to learn, but that was a lot of learning! With new formats to contended with did you use existing tools in new ways or did you branch out to discover new tools for those new ways? Please share any new tools or new uses of previous tools. Welcome to Week 4 of the #8weeksofsummer Blog Challenge 2021.
Teachers adjusted to both asynchronous and synchronous teaching this past year. Each had a unique set of requirements to help a teacher succeed. The ping-ponging between face-to-face and distance was especially hard for some educators. Did you find a way to keep that constant change organized?
Share the idea of blogging with your colleagues as a way to process the full year of multiple formats. Take the ideas of the friends in this challenge and hopefully build a future teaching repertoire prepared for multiple formats!
The Prompt:
Describe new tools you discovered or mastered this year.

Denise,
I accidentally posted “anonymously” to your post – I’m not sure why that happened, haha.
You mentioned the types of tools that I think most of us had a similar experience with – Zoom was a wow for so many teachers!
Thanks as always for sharing!

My thoughts on tools evolved to a single point: don’t assume you have mastery. https://ticklingtech.com/2021/07/02/mastering-tools-during-the-strangest-year-ever/

Robbie,
You’re such a serious practitioner that I love reading the detail you put into your posts of what you used and how – as move closer to mastery.
Our district started using Teams with select district-level leadership groups before the pandemic. We never intended it to be a student tool (so as not to compete with our purchased LMS). But I love the backchannel/replacement of emails/transparent nature of the Teams!

Hello! It’s a good thing we are having so much rain in Massachusetts because I can work on my blog! It’s so easy to forget everything we did and learned last year so I appreciate the opportunity to go back. Adapting to new teaching formats has indeed been a challenging journey. It’s great to see educators embracing technology. This blog prompts valuable discussions on tools that have been discovered or mastered during this transformative year. Sharing experiences and ideas will undoubtedly benefit fellow educators.
